Visitors' rules for National Park (NAPANT)
According to the Regional authority mandate in Zilina no.2/1997
issued on October 24 1997.
The purpose of the visiting rules
is to contribute to the protection of the natural environment of
Low Tatra National Park as well as to define its acceptable use
from both cultural and educational standpoints. The visiting rules
specify details concerning the duties of visitors, the extent of
traffic, as well as the cultural and educational use of the National
Park area which is permitted by the Slovak Republic government decree
no.182/1997 of the Laws Collection.
All visitors to the National Park
are obliged to behave so as not to cause any damage to plants or
animals. It is strictly prohibited to destroy the environment by
polluting it with garbage or unnecessary noise. It is forbidden
to damage, destroy or pick protected plants, as is disturbing protected
animals, including causing their death, wounding, catching, moving
them as well as destroying or damaging their natural surroundings
and dwellings. Damaging and destroying of natural wood is not allowed
either.
Visitors to the National Park are
allowed to move freely along the tourist paths, educational paths,
cyclistic paths and roads, except on those where moving is specifically
prohibited by the Environmmental Protection Authority. The visitors
are obliged to obey all movement restrictions (e.g. seasonal closures
of tourist and educational paths) issued by the Environmental Protection
Authority or Mountain Rescue Patrol.
The unlimited operation and parking
of motor vehicles in the area of the National Park is possible only
for public ground communications with non limited car traffic, or
with the explicit permission of the district government office.
Parking and driving in the territories of the nature reserves, national
nature reserves, natural sights and national natural sights is permitted
on the condition of the Slovak Republic Ministry of Environment´s
approval. Parking motor vehicles in the marked parking areas is
limited according to lot capacity.
In the territory reserved for the
purpose of cultural and educational activities, some trails and
places are reserved in the territory of the National Park where
permission from environmental protection authorities is not necessary.
Except these selected places, the above-mentioned activities may
take place only with the permission of the authority Environmental
Protection.
Visitors to the National Park are
forbidden to lead dogs without a guide stripe and a protective muzzle.
In the territory of protective areas, nature reserves, national
nature reserves, natural sights, and national natural sights dogs
are forbidden without exception. Observation
and practice flights of air engine traffic are forbidden above the
territory of the National Park, as is boating including navigating
on mountain streams. Making campfires
is allowed only on the property of recreational subjects and cottages,
as well as on provided campsites.
On the territories of nature reserves,
natural sights, national natural sights and national nature reserves,
the fifth degree of protection applies. Besides observation of the
above-mentioned laws, it is also forbidden to stray from the marked
paths and places, to pick plants and their fruits, to collect minerals
and fossils, to destroy vegetation and soil cover, to enter chasms
and caves which are not open to the public, to smoke, to make loud
noises, or to pollute the area. Visitors to the areas with the fifth
degree of protection are allowed to enter these areas only during
the day from one hour after sunrise to one hour before sunset.
On the territory of the National Park
picking forest fruits is allowed, but only within the range of the
tourist path and for personal use. Picking forest fruits is forbidden
in areas of fourth and fifth degree protection. Permission by the
Environmental Protection Authority for picking forest fruits may
be given in certain cases.

Skialpinism
Skialpinism is allowed on the central part, in the area enclosed
by the boundary of Zadná voda -Polana col - Derese - Oblaz on
the west and boundary of Lúcky - Siroká - Krúpova Hola - Cottage
of M.R.Stefanik and Trangoska Valey on the east.
In the other areas, skialpinism is allowed only where marked on
visible poles.
Cyclotourism
Cyclotourism is prohibited in areas where the soil resistance
against erosion is low. Visitors are not allowed to bicycle mainly
on the ridge Hiadelske Sedlo - Králova Hola - Trangoska Valey,
Zadná Voda, massive of Velky Bok and Rovná Hola, blue tourist
path col Krizske - Cottage of M.R.Stefanik - Pred Bystra and other
areas. You are obliged to respect closures of paths as indicated
on signs throughout the terrain.
